Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5 introduced one of the most drastic environmental overhauls in the game's history under the slogan Worlds Collide. With the arrival of mysterious dimensional rifts across the island, entirely new biomes and landmarks reshaped the battle royale landscape. Navigating this updated terrain requires a solid understanding of its key locations, tactical vantage points, and unique traversal options.
The Arrival of the Desert Biome and Paradise Palms
The most notable change on the island was the complete drying up of Moisty Mire, which was replaced by a massive desert region in the southeastern quadrant. At the heart of this vast biome lies Paradise Palms, a bustling city filled with high-rise apartments, luxury pools, and plentiful loot. The surrounding sandy landscape also features roadside diners, gas stations, and unique attractions like a trio of giant dinosaur statues.
Golfing at Lazy Links
In the northern portion of the map, the sprawling farmlands of Anarchy Acres were completely bulldozed to make room for Lazy Links. This high-end country club features a massive main clubhouse, tennis courts, and expansive green golf courses. Players frequently drop here to secure high-tier weapons and hop into All-Terrain Karts for fast rotations across the map.
Viking Village and Mountainous Landmarks
Perched high atop the steep mountain between Greasy Grove and Snobby Shores, a snowy Viking Village suddenly materialized through a rift. This landmark features authentic wooden longhouses, an icy waterfall cascading down the cliffside, and a large Viking longship resting on the edge. Landing on top of this mountain gives squads incredible vertical superiority and quick glider redeploy options using nearby rift spawns.
Overgrown Dusty Divot and Mysterious Rifts
The massive crater formed in Season 4 underwent a major natural transformation during Season 5. Dusty Divot became densely overgrown with lush trees and thick foliage, turning the once barren landscape into a high-visibility ambush zone. Scattered around the island near these major POIs, dimensional rifts remained active, allowing players to teleport into the sky for strategic rotations.
